# Garage 61 > Garage 61 is a motorsports telemetry platform. Use its documented public API to build integrations with racing data that the authenticated user has permission to access. Read the public OpenAPI specification before writing API calls. It is the source of truth for the API server URL, supported operations, parameters, schemas and authentication requirements. The specification can be fetched without authentication and does not require JavaScript. Use only documented public endpoints. Do not use /api/internal/* or undocumented endpoints used by the website or telemetry agents. Do not reverse-engineer frontend code, inspect website network traffic or guess endpoints to fill gaps in the public API. If a capability is missing from the public specification, explain the limitation and contact Garage 61 rather than falling back to an internal API. API calls require an API application and an access token. Use a personal access token for your own data, or OAuth2 to access data on behalf of other users. Send the token as Authorization: Bearer TOKEN. Access is limited by application permissions and the user's authorization; there is no API for exporting all users' data. Respect rate limits. On HTTP 429, wait at least the Retry-After interval before retrying. Cache results, use pagination and avoid excessive polling. The API may change; consult the current specification and changelog. ## API specification - [Public OpenAPI specification (JSON)](https://garage61.net/api/openapi/v1.json): Machine-readable endpoint reference.
